A lone dark elf girl walking through the streets of Daggerfall on a winter night.
Not such a good idea as anyone who has ever played the game knows (VENGEAAAAANCE!)... better go find that nearest inn quick :P

Based on The Elder Scrolls 2 : Daggerfall which is (c) Bethesda Softworks

Well done. Great game, too.

Thanks!
I actually played Daggerfall way more than I did Morrowind or Oblivion... hmm...
Its music was the best thing about Daggerfall.. it still rocks even today :P

If only they had carried on the tradition of a vast game world and heaps of complexity, the series wouldn't have taken a nose dive like it did.

I loved all the books. The game had a real sense of history. And everyone was seedy and bad. That part was brilliant.

:F

"you get no response" :P

Nah, Daggerfall was cool because it left a lot to the imagination; those books were great though, I spent quite a while traveling through towns and checking at the Mages' Guild for new books
Still name many of my female characters in games Solara (that's actually the name of the elf in the picture as well) in reference to the book "The Light and the Dark"

If it fell short anywhere, it was that the cities felt like they were made with a Random Number Generator. (Something you CAN do with games like Dwarf Fortress. But that's another story.)

But I think the religions, the factions, the politics, it was all very sophisticated. Morrowind had it to a much lesser extent, and tried to make up for it with character and 3D graphics, but nothing beats that level of detail. I mean, there were even witches covens, just for summoning Daedra if you fell out of good graces with the mages and temples. 8-)
:iconcubehero:
I think apart from some key places, the whole game actually IS completely randomized... would have been an impossible amount of work to manually create all of the cities and dungeons

Yeah, I think the more sophisticated engine just made everything else look more generic (especially the conversations)
They were even more generic in Daggerfall, but it didn't really show as much as in the sequels

I don't hate Morrowind and Oblivion really, but I just could never get into them (especially the 10 or so voice actors for all of Tamriel part is annoying)
:iconmistertakeda:
You got to wonder why they even bothered. There weren't really any meaningful choices in Oblivion either. In Daggerfall, you could screw up everything by ignoring someone for a month. Becoming a vampire damned you.
:iconcubehero:
Well, newer games are generally a lot more forgiving than old ones, which is mostly good gameplay wise (see old sierra adventures, where one wrong action immediately killed you), but not that great storytelling-wise

becoming a vampire was also pretty scary because some of the avatar pictures were really horrifying >.>
